cafeteria food

the cafeteria food we have is unhealthy because we dont really know where the meat comes from or what exactly is in our food, we have to eat everyday. i dont think that we have enough money to get all the best and healthiest food for our bodies.the cheaper the food the more unhealthy the students will be.
 i never buy cafeteria food.

goals-> support a movement

i watched the video and i strongly agree with the girl. Supporting a movement you strongly believe in is a good thing. it makes a huge diference because you get an audience to hear what you have to say. im not saying every single person will agree with what you are suppoting, but you will always find some people who suppport you, it all depends on the strong facts you demonstrate and whether the movement you are suppporting is worth it and if it affects people like  you . there will always be someone who has something in common with you. there will always be someone who has the same issuse as you so if you talk about why you are supporting the movement you believe in. the movement you support will not only benefit you, but it benefits others aswell.

osama bin laden *

i was very young when 9/11 happened , but i remember it being a very big deal. i am happy that osama was finally found and killed because he deserves that . he killed so m any inoocent people in 9/11. his killing was bound to happen. well he can have fun in helll. i dont know how anyone could have the heart to kill inoocent people and not want to be found so that he could be killed. finally after a decade osama is dead.. yayy. i think that the american people need to watch out for the retalliation that could happen.

the reason why i believe facebook effects grades

personally, i do believe that having access to facebook on a comeputer effects grades. facebook effects grades especially when you are in a class and you are suppose to be writing a report on a something for your teacher and you are getting distracted by facebook. there are alot of students who have a hard time paying attention. there are many students who cannot control themselves and limit their time to which they think is appropriate to use facebook. im noot going to lie from experience, i have been in a curious mode and just wanting to read statuses and see what i have gotten as a message or comment. it gets really addicting for some students though. that is why i would reccommend that a teacher should have like a cerain device that shows every single students page and what they are doing on the teachers computer. so that way the student gets inmidated and is less likely to go in facebook when they no the teacher can see what they are doing through their computer. so i believe that this method would help imrprove grades greatly. im not saying to block facebook. ultimately its depend on whether the indivisuall student is mature or immature. the student will stilll have an oppoutunity to go on facebook in their own time, like for example they could go on faceboook during their down time. the author of the article said ; "Students who use Facebook and hit the books simultaneously found their multitasking led to 20% lower grades than those of their more focused peerstheir study, and when the student has down time. "

Does your school teach students how their digital footprints can quickly connect them to the individuals, ideas, and opportunities that they care most about?

Does your school teach students how their digital footprints can quickly connect them to the individuals, ideas, and opportunities that they care most about?

i do not think that the school teaches students how their digital footprints can quickly connect themindivisuals, ideas, and opportunities that they care about. I think that i have benefitted from taking web 2.0 because I think my principle Mr. Larkin does a great job at teaching his class about digital footprints and how it could help us in the long run. i have learned many things from taking this class with mr larkin. he encourages us to be more social freindly to internet media. from him i learned that i could make money from posting things about a businesses. i could get other people's points of views on things i care about. i learned that i could also learn at anytime of the day with skype, because there are people out there that instruct. i think the students next year will have an increased understanding of digital footprints when they get their indivisual ipad 2's. :)

ipad education

the article is about how it is helpful for students to use the ipad for school. this student said that the ipad is almost perfect for students that are in middle school and highschool to use because it is like a functioning computer/ebook reader/internet device. which can do pretty much what you need it to do in a short amount of time. more schools now are embracing ipads because of this. they use the math and english apps on the ipad to help educate the kids. on the apps there are step by steps problems to help an indivisuals student learn in the classroom and also outside of the classroom. the ipad allows the students to correspond with teachers and turn in papers and homework assignments. "It allows us to extend the classroom beyond these four walls,” said Larry Reiff. he is an english teacher at roslyn.

WHAT NOT TO POST ON FACEBOOK

i agree that you shouldnt put your full birthday date on facebook. i feel like that is kind of creepy. i put my birthday but not the year. i definately agree with beth givens when she said that givimg your date of birth and the place you were born at is like giving your financial security. in a way i think that is extremely true. there are many crazy theives and kidnappers out there. i feel like facebook users should know this information because it is important. One thing i found interesting  was researchers being able to discover thatt they could reconstruct social security numbers using an individual's birthday and place of birth. i did not know that your mother’s maiden name was an important peice of information because it is often the answer to security questions on many sites. i also learned that credit card companies, wireless service providers, and other firms often rely on this to protect personal information. i think it is sooo dumb to post up what your address is and where you live unless it is for a business matter. also i dont think that it is important for a persons  facebook freinds should post unnesessary things as their status. like for example posting when you will be away from home . especially when you dont know every single one of your freinds on facebook. i think that is rediculous. you also should not put your cell phone number down in the info section because it is not everyones business unless it is a business page.

Will Richardson's TED Talk

i think that it is amazing that his daughter tess learned Journey from youtube. that is just amazing that she surprised her father like that. that just goes to show that internet is very imporatant. the internet is very important because it gives people who love to learn an oppurtunity to learn at anytime of the day. i agree with will when he said that it is a pretty cool opputunity to be a learner right now. kids can learn anything they would like and they dont need to wait for a curriculum to learn about what they are interested in. now a days the internet make some things that may have seemed impossible before possible now. the internet access goes from making a name for people, to making money for people, and to changing peoples views on certain things you believe in. youtube is not just for fun and looking up music videos but also for educational and learning puposes aswell. i think that it is imporatnt for children to have a computer with access to the internet.

Being Safe Online Is Being Safe In Life

i think it is very important for kids safe online. if you post anything online that is inappropriate, it can follow you for the rest of your life. i dont think anyone would ever want to live in regret after they have posted something that is horrible for the world to see on the internet. posting things on the internet can either make your reputation or break your reputation. so i agree that being safe online is definately being safe in life. it affects whether or not you get a job in the future. what you do is what you are. i think that since kids use facebook soo much that schools should teach them how to set their security settings up.  i dont thiink that adults or children should ever put up personal information such as , their adress phone number and where they work unless the person is using facebook for business matters

earthquake in japan

wow i feel sooo sorry for all those lives lost in japan. i understand how hard it was for those people in japan to go through this. soo many lost loved ones. this makes me so sad. people in america lost their family in japan. this reminds me of what my family went through when the earthquake in haiti occured. so i can really relate to this. i wish the best to all the japanese and the people in america that has been affected by this. i dont think any country deserves this horrible tragedy to happen. many innocent lives were lost all i can say is that my prayers are with the people in pain, the people in need, and the families who has lost their precious ones. the earthquake was at  8.9 and it triggered a Tsunami Alert. this also threatened the whole pacific. i got to watch the earthquake and tsunami happen on this website , it is very clear check it out , crazzzy stuff . >>>> http://bit.ly/eYJSxM

angela maiers

i think that it is amazing that angela got to get a job. she increased her business through social media. i appreciate that our web 2.0 class got to see a teacher all the way from Iowa  on skype to talk to us about furthering our education about the world of social media and how it could help us. there are many benefits towards social media. one of the benefits is that you can find a job, another one is that you could make a name for yourself, and the third one is that you could increase your clientele significantly just by simmply blogging and saying what things your business offers or what you will offer on social media. i am greatful for getting the opputunity to hear what excellent things angela had to say. the internet is a great source of learning and mr larkin taught me this and i realized that skype is a amazing for learning. i love that through social media you could learn anytime of the day when ever you want. angela taught a class at ten at night to people around the world, that is beyond great . :)

wikispace

the best website for this web 2.0 class is wikispace. it is very helpful and i tihnk that this class would benefit from it in many ways. if you are in school you can use it for class projects and discussions, andhow ever else you would like to use it. you can have many people involved what you are doing through this website. all you have to do is go to this >>website and craete an account for yourself and get started.

ipad 2 is finally out! :)

the ipad 2 comes with camera-focused apps like FaceTime, iMovie, and Photo Booth. Available in both black and white colors. It is thinner and nicer. it is very fast. You can rent a movie on your iPad and watch it on your television. in order to do this you need a tiny cable that plugs in to the the 30-pin connector on one end and has an HDMI connection on the other. i think it is very cool that burlington high is going to have this amazing technology next year. ipad will be great and less weight on your shoulders. i would pick and ipad over books any day. there is an ipad smart cover aswell which doesnt make it look or feel really bulky. this ipad covers 10 hours of battery. it is also lighter. there is a camera at the top of the ipad and it has facetime. its >>>>>>>>>>>> great it is 15% smaller than the regular ipad. it is comming march 11 and it is the same price as the last ipad $499.00. you can start a video call with your best friend through the ipad. i think it is easier than actually picking up a phone. there is also a camera on the ipad. it has a dual core A5 chip , so therefore it is two times faster. you can gameplay on the iPad2 and it is even smoother and more realistic.

umass boston measles

in dorchester,ma The Boston Public Health Commission is investigating a case of measles on the umass boston campus. that is scary ,,umass boston is telling students who came in contact with the faculty member to stay at home for three weeks. i hope that never happens to me wheni get into college ..staying home for two weeks.. i would not want to m ake up all that work,, eventhough it is nice to have a break. anyways this illness is very serious and it is also known as an infectious disease. the university is making 45 students and 5 faculty members stay home. this effects alot of people. its sad that this is happening beacuse people come to the university to learn and work and they have miss out on  this oppurtunity because of measles. oh man ..the disease starts off with a rash on the face and it spreads, you get bloodshot eyes, a cough, a fever, and muscle pain... oooo that is gros and pray i neve meet anyone with this or i never get this.

school cell ban pushes the right buttons

i think it is stupid to stop cell phone use. i know that it is wrong for students to use cell phones as bullying in some schools, but what about the innocent students in school who do nothing to abuse their rights to use their cell phones. i think cell phone use should still be aloud in schools. we all need our cell phones. im not saying that we are all dependent on our cell phones. cell phone use can also be great to use for education. i do not agree with martha coakley being against cell phone use for four years. even if the schools ban cell phone use in school, most of the kids will not obey it. the students will find other ways by going about usung their cell phones. like for example leave learning time in a class to go to the bathroom JUST to use their cell phones.

christina aguilera

i am so shocked that christina messed up on the lyrics. she 100% american which makes it worse. it is okay to make mistake and mess up. not everyone is perfect. dont worry christina i dont hate you. i just dont understand that if she has been rehearsing for this day than why would she miss a line. that is sooo embarrassing for a a professional singer. like out of all the songs she has sang, that she could have messed up, it had to be the star spangled banner..... that night must have been a bad night for christina. she probably cant stop thinking about it. while i was watching the video i noticed at the end of the performance she looked very uncomfortable. oh and her outfit was horrible. like come on chrisitina! get it together. why are you going to wear all black to perform at a super bowl ... the girl looked like she was dressed up to go to a funeral. like are you okay in the head hunny? no,, no one died...  again get it together. her hair looked like she just rolled out of bed, OR HER HAIR STYLIST JUST SUCKED. she appologized to all her fans though so  thats good

teacher replacing tech

this reflection is based on this amazing post
i think that it is amazing that someone placed a computer in a third world country and the children learned how to use it on their own. that is the perfect example on how us kids really dont need direction from an actual human being. all of us have common sense. i am sure we are all capable of learning online. it may take longer for certain kids to be tech savvy. it will also be hard to understand the teacher who would be teaching rather than in class face-to-face, but at the end of the day it is all doable . all it takes is three important characters; patience, determination, and intelligence.  like myself i think i would rather be in class face to face with a person rather than doing online classes,, because i communicate better that way. everyone is different and everyone has been given their own gifts, strengths, and abilities.

RSA animate

I agreee with changing education. I agree with teachers of all kinds changing the way they teach. I agree with teachers making their  teachin styles alot more fun and interesting for students like us. If i were a kid that loved basketball, and my teacher were to teach me math using basketball terms i would grow to love math. When you appreciate a certain hobby and that hobby being incorporated into the subject you like the least makes it alot easier to learn. It makes it alot easier for the student to expand his or her learning and open the kid up emotionally. That is what i think about the video. In the video i was surprised that there was a quote at 3:15 and it said " i wish i had listened in school." That is what alot of students end up saying at the end of their senior or class year, when it is too late. this happens often because teachers never make learning fun and interesting. so therefore th
